MOLON LAVE is the first olive oil worldwide to be certified for its bioactive composition which benefits human health and wellness.

It is classified as a “highly bioactive” olive oil, according to the regulations of the European AFQ certification mark.

More specifically, MOLON LAVE has demonstrated maximum bioactivity, with a score of 20/20, close to levels that exceed the antioxidant capacity of foods classified as having the highest antioxidant capacity worldwide, such as pomegranate and aronia.

AFQ (Activity FoodOxys Quality) is a new, innovative system for rating and ranking the quality of agricultural products from around the world. In particular, it evaluates and compares a wide range of products, categorized according to the Food and Beverage Code of the European Union and the US Food and Drug Administration.

It is a European Quality Certification Mark, registered in the official list of approved marks of the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

It has been created by FoodOxys, an academic spin-off company of the University of Thessaly, and provides the producer and the consumer with valuable answers regarding the quality characteristics and beneficial properties of food and beverages.

The founder of the academic spin-off, Professor Dimitrios Kouretas, having worked extensively over the last 20 years studying the effect of food on human metabolic health, explains: “The food we eat provides our body with the ‘information’ and material it needs to function properly. If we don’t have the right information, our metabolic processes decline, compromising our body’s health. Hippocrates used the following phrase: “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” What we eat is the cornerstone of our health. Until now, consumers have not been aware of the contribution of the products they eat. We have established a parameter that will determine consumer preferences in the coming years.”
